Psalm 20:6-8: "Now this I know: The Lord gives victory to his anointed. He answers him from his heavenly sanctuary with the victorious power of his right hand. Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm."
Falling/Breaking Down: Inevitably, if you bike long enough, you will fall off your bike or your bike will break down. I can recall training with Addie one afternoon where my chain became so tightly stuck in the chainring, I thought I would never be able to free that chain. Sometimes, the problem is one that we cannot solve on our own, but we need to call the support vehicle for help. In each of these cases, we fall down, but we get back up to ride again.
The Christian walk is not always easy. Sometimes we fall. Sometimes we fall down so hard that we doubt that we will ever get back up. The evil one wants us to stay down, to separate us from other Christians, and to have us admit defeat. Psalm 20, however, reminds us that in Christ we have been given victorious power. When we fall, it is good to remind ourselves that regardless of the situation that we find ourselves in, we ultimately have VICTORY in Christ! In good times and in bad, we are more than conquerors in Christ! We ought to live, not as one who is defeated, but as one who has already obtained victory in Christ. When others give up, we rise again and stand firm, not because of who we are, but because of who He is!
